Minoru Cultural Centre
(By bus from downtown take the 98 into Richmond and get off at the corner of No 3 Rd and Granville Street and walk two blocks west to Minoru Gate)
I will be there at noon at the main entrance with my sash tied around my bag and looking for bannock. So don't be late.
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(604) 271-7600 ext. 150
Watch the Louis Riel Metis Dancers (rumoured to perform at 3:20 give or take 10 minutes) and drum-making demonstrations, view aboriginal films and listen to aboriginal writers. Other performers will include: blues musician Murray Porter; the Heiltsuk Dance Group from Bella Bella; Gerald Charlie and the Black Owl Blues Band; hip-hop performers N'didi Cascade; and half-Cree, University of B.C.-trained cellist Cris Derksen who mixes hip hop, rock, folk, country, spoken word, song, traditional and contemporary sounds.
The celebration will be hosted by the Richmond Youth Service Agency's Pathways Aboriginal Centre.
